Mount Isa AFL is a local Australian Rules Football competition built around community, participation, and the growth of the game in the region. Australian Rules Football has been a part of Mount Isa’s sporting landscape since the early 1930s, with the first matches played in 1932 and three clubs established by 1933. A league was formed in 1955, but the current competition traces its origins to 1967, when it began as the North West Australian Football League. In 1969, it was renamed the Mount Isa AFL, and in 2001, it adopted its current name, AFL Mount Isa
